Viking
Folk Art Publications, Inc.
was founded in 1980 as Viking Woodcrafts by Dot and Bill Steffan
and their daughter Jan Draheim (who is now president). It was
because of Dot's love of decorative painting and the need of
a good source of supplies that helped create a distributorship
of fine art and craft supplies.
When
DeLane Lange asked Bill to publish a book for her in 1987, Viking
Folk Art Publications was born. This friendly relationship still
remains today even though DeLane now publishes her own books.
When
the Steffans sold Viking Woodcrafts in 1992 to concentrate on
publishing, the corporation had grown from one employee to 43,
a complete wood shop, 800 pages of catalog and customers around
the world.
A word of caution to the readers: Look
what trouble this hobby can get you into!
Viking
is proud to publish for authors from Canada, Russia, Australia,
Japan and the United States. Their publications are now available
world wide.
Because
of the wonderful authors working with Viking, they have one
of the most diversified publications for decorative painting
available.
The
most gratifying reward for a publisher is to see their authors
become know through out the world for their talent.
Global
Designs, Inc. was started by Bill as a separate corporation
in 1997 to produce CD Roms of decorative click art. Watch the
web for more new items to be added.
